Most of the time, teenagers like us like to spend time sitting in a group just to talk. What do we talk about? Almost everything under the sun, provided that you're all close enough. There's always a common denominator among all these groups, be it in a whole-boys, whole-girls, or mixed group. & yup, you got it - gossiping.

What is gossiping? It can mean talking about someone behind their backs, or even to the extent of adding hurtful and untrue comments about that particular 'target'. Sometimes people gossip for the fun of it, but slowly they get used to it, treating it as a part of their daily lives. Well, I can't deny the fact that I do get involved with gossiping. It seems fun, it gets you inside a group, it makes you feel good.

After gossiping, I realize that most of us do it because we want to feel good, feel superior compared to the ones we are making fun of. We get a sense of accomplishment while doing so because we are able to point out the weakness of one. But do we even think, that we have our own flaws as well? If that is so, what makes us think that others are not talking about us as well?

I came across a quote while reading Teenage today. "To have a good friend you must be a good friend too." It's the same concept as doing unto others what we want them to do towards us. Yea, you might think that if a bunch of gossips come together, things will be fine because there's a common hobby. But oh well, you can't tell. Who knows, you might just become the next topic of gossip among them!

Negative treatment towards others brings negative treatment towards ourselves as well. Why not live a life whereby you love everyone around you. Yes, it is difficult. But it is not impossible. God told us to love one another, even our enemies! How can we judge others just by the surface? It's just so unfair to them, so we should treat them lovingly, no matter what we would get back.

That's why I've told myself - I would treat people nicely even though I might be treated like trash. I might have not been doing it, but I'm starting right now. But now, there's a barrier though... & that is lack of love. I know I can do it, for since God is with me& strengthens me. :)
